| Southeastern Anatolian Project (SEAP) |
SEAP-is an integrated Regional Development Project which includes industry, agriculture, road construction, education, health and other similar sectors. The project will greatly improve the socio-economic structure of the region. It is one of the largest projects in history.
Because of its advanced industrial and economic structure in relation to other cities in the project area, Gaziantep is very closely involved with SEAP. Through the SEAP irrigation network , additional areas of Gaziantep will be irrigated.Yields will rise, product diversity for domestic and export markets will be enhanced. Product fertility will be increased by development in product design and rotation. With SEAP in Gaziantep, fish farming has already started, and transportation of passengers and cargo has expanded. Parallel to this increase, new highways have been built. As a result, the city has become more of a centre of attraction, and population has increased.
All these developments through the SEAP will be a solution to unemployment and migration problems. Thanks to the economic and industrial infrastructure which is already in place, and its strategic location, Gaziantep, along with its surrounding provinces, will be able to offer a wide range of products to domestic and foreign markets by taking advantage of the region's raw materials and agricultural resources.
